Starting her early...

As most of my friends and family know, I am a Diet Pepsi addict. At my height of Pepsi drinking, I was known to kill off a six-pack inside of a couple hours. I think I may have even pushed it by completing a 12-pack inside a day during college finals, but I cannot remember ALL of my personal accomplishments.

Anyways, the point of this post is to show all of you that I am starting Alyssa early. Aron has already had a sip of Pepsi, a finger of a malty beverage, and sucked on bacon grease. Hey, gets them ready for the wonderful world of fine foods that they will experience later in life.

DISCLAIMER...

When one has children, this tends to skew one's view on life. However, when one has more than one child at once, it makes it all the more skewed viewpoint. So if ever anything posted on this site seems a bit odd or unusual, well, that is quite the normal for me. They do not refer to me as a Pest for nothing.... :-)

The Force is strong...

It has been brought to my attention that the similarities between my Twins and one of the more famous sets of fictional Twins are uncanny. I am referring to the Skywalker Twins of the Star Wars episodes III through VI.

For example, Luke was born first, as was Aron, and Leia was second by the same amount of time of two minutes. All four individuals look nothing alike, with Luke and Aron having blue eyes while their sisters have brown eyes. Even right now, Aron shares the fine blond hair of his fictional counterpart, although it will be a while for the infamous Princess Leia hairstyle to show up on Alyssa.

We've come a long way, babies...

Mommy is typing this for us because we can not do that just yet.

We are now five months old and we have come a long way. When we were born, we only weighed about 4.5 lbs each, and spent some time in the Special Care Nursery at St. Ann's in Westerville. Since then, we have tripled our weight, grown some cheeks (both sets!) that are easy to pinch, moved into larger clothing, learned to smile, coo, grab things, and even started various baby foods. We have moved from eating what was to us a large meal of 2oz every three hours to now at least 5oz every three hours. We can, on occasion, sleep entirely through the night when we have exhausted ourselves. Sister likes to talk to herself, but Brother likes to be the mover and shaker of the two of us. Mommy puts us down on the floor and finds Brother halfway out the door because he has moved so much. We even have given Mommy her first grey hairs!

But the best part is, we have trained our mommy and daddy right so that when we are unhappy, they come running to make us happy again! :-)

Bribery at its finest...

You know how when you get married, there is ALWAYS the story about something embarrassing that happened to the bride or the groom? Well, I have got Aron's story and picture right here. Hey, at least he is covered up!

My bad...

In my previous posting, I mentioned that we had put up pictures of Babies in various situations that would get us in trouble with Child Services. I mentioned that we had pictures of Babies being laid on by dogs, Babies in Laundry baskets, and Babies with beer bottles and remotes in their hands. However, I failed to realize that I did not have a picture of Babies with beer bottles and remotes. Please allow me to correct that statement at this time and note that the above pictures are from the Tiny Days of early September when Senor Pantload and Senorita Butt Trumpet did not weigh as much as your Thanksgiving Turkey.

Enjoy!

Yet another picture...

Joel has said that this is yet another picture that would get us in trouble if anyone in the Child Services looked at this site. So far, we have put up pictures of Babies in laundry baskets, Babies with dogs laying on them, and Babies with Beer bottles and remotes. Why not add a baby buried by a pile of laundry? The weirdest thing is that she seemed to *really* enjoy it big time. :-)

So you wanted to know...

So you wanted to know what carrying two babies up the stairs at the same time looks like? Well, here you go. And let me tell you, you need to have some serious arm strength as well as a good back because when your baby boy weighs as much as a Thanksgiving turkey and the little girl is not too far behind, you have close to 30 lbs you have to take up the stairs. :-)

In memorial...

I am posting something non-baby related because I need to.

The following two pictures are of my family dogs, Sandy and Minnie. Both have since passed away and have left a gaping hole in my family's lives. I hope that you are both in a better place and without pain and suffering any more. We miss you greatly. :-(

Of Senor PantLoad and Senorita ButtTrumpet

Despite my best efforts to get the Babies to unleash their colons on a regular basis, nothing has helped The Babies still only do Numbah 2 on an every 3-day schedule. Unfortunately, they are both on the same day at about the same time. So, if you smell one stinky patrol, you know that there will be another one that will soon follow. I think that the worst part is Aron's changing session. He likes to keep moving legs, arms, basically whatever body part will wiggle. The problem is most of the time he has managed to land a foot or two in the diaper.

"Aron's Stinky patrol is really gross, stinky patrol I hate the most....EWWW!""

Hooray for Cereal...Part 2!

Okay, when I had done the original post a few days ago, we were only able to capture Alyssa. This time, I have pictures of Aron, who, by the way, thoroughly enjoys the booster/high chair. So, enjoy!

Finally...

We have finally taken some professional pictures. Obviously, everything thus far has been from our own camera but last night we went to Babies R Us and had some pics taken. I know that I said that I would NEVER treat them as twins with respect to dressing them in the same outfits, but I broke this rule just this one and only time. As you can see, we are training the Babies right by making them future Buck Nuts. Even their socks say "OSU!" (Outfits are compliments of Grandma and Grandpa B.) And no, Alyssa is NOT smelling a dirty poopy diaper. She was caught in the middle of a freaking huge grin... :-)

Hooray for Cereal!

With any baby, the first experience with solid food can be both interesting and, of course, very messy. Well, the Babies are now on Rice Cereal and sort of taking to it like ducks to water with very little issues. Unless you consider cereal all over your face an issue….

Here are a few pictures of the Babies taken during the Great Cereal incident of 2005. You can see Aron has already been cleaned up, which was a task in itself. He is now attempting to re-enact a scene from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy while Alyssa can be seen practicing her "YO!"

Thumbsuckers Anonymous!

Good news, everyone! Aron weighed in at 15lbs 3oz and Alyssa weighed in at 13lbs 11oz on Tuesday 11/22/05. They are now 2/5 my total height at 24" each. (Great, not even 4 months old and they are already giving me a run for my money in the height department!!!)

Alyssa has joined the Thumbsuckers Anonymous club. She has a problem that has shown up mainly around feeding time but has increased to anytime she can put her thumb near her mouth.

Of Babies and the S. Sisters...

The Babies got a treat yesterday when they were visited by our favorite pair of sisters in the world yesterday evening. Amy and Chrissy stopped on the way home after hosting a baby shower in the area. It has been a while since we got to see them. I think the last time the Babies or myself saw either of them was a little bit after the Babies arrived at the end of July. Aron kept trying to get certain people to flash everyone else in the room while Alyssa just kept alternating between a smiling and solemn facial expression. However, the Babies sure had fun. They slept a large amount today because I think we wore them out yesterday. I still feel like I did not get to get anything done today, though.

The tale of “Senorita Butt Trumpet…”

Let me share with all of you who visit my site a small but stinky thing that I enjoy getting at 2a in the morning:

Picture this if you will. A baby wails at 2a, waiting for her midnight feeding. As usual, the first thing to be done is a diaper change, which is always a little bit of a challenge in a dimly lit room. With this baby, the initial thing you hear as one picks her up is the continuous punctuated flatulence that coincides with vigorous leg kicking as she wakes up. To top it all off, the baby issues a huge grin as she lets each one rip. Then, finally, the back-end is quiet for a few minutes. So, OF COURSE, you believe that it is finally safe to change her diaper. NOT!!! As you position your face in the general vicinity of her bum so you can put the fresh diaper in its proper position, she turns her head to you, cracks a big toothless, gummy grin, and farts in your face. Hence Alyssa's new title, Senorita Butt Trumpet…

Smiles and Ton-Tongues Toffees...

I am pleased to share that the Babies are now smiling on demand. Alyssa smilles pretty much whenever you look at her and smile while Aron needs a little coaxing. This coaxing is done by playing with his tongue, hence the title, Ton-Tongue Toffees. (Fred and George Weasley would be proud.) I hope to get a picture of both of them smiling in the same picture and put up soon so every one can see their wonderful smiles. Right now, I just have two separate pictures. Aron is still getting the smiling thing down because he seems to put more tongue in his smile, while Alyssa gets more gum but they are both cute anyway.

Larry, Aron, and Moe...

The picture does not exactly match up but you get the idea. :-)

The babies are still sleeping in the same crib, but they are now at an angle instead of vertically in the middle. Well, this is now about to change. As I went in to see why Aron was crying this morning, I was surprised to find him parallel to the back of the crib with his head in the corner and his feet kicking Alyssa in the head. In addition to his new position, he had completely shed his blankets as well. I guess the occasional use of the second crib will now become a more permanent bed for the almost rolling over but still mobile Mr. Noodles.

Oodles of Noodles and Things...

It has been brought to my attention that a few of the below blog entries were derived from comments and input by my cohort in crime, “J.” While I am far from the Silent Bob in this relationship, I must give him his credit where it is due. The following comments on this blogsite were derived and/or directly resulting from the J.

  • "Keep firing, a&%holes!”
  • The long lost sibling of Dom DeLuise.
  • The long lost sibling of the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man and Ollie Williams.
  • The “ROTTEN PUMPKINS!” name tag from Halloween.
In other news, Noodles (AKA Aron) appears to be halfway in completely rolling over. Alyssa had a rough night last night where, starting at 2a, she decided that she did not like her dinner and preceded to spit/vomit it all up. I actually had to wake up Joel for help because Aron decided to scream and wake up as well but he did not want Daddy to feed him. (What a mama's boy!!) However, she has now surpassed Aron in sucking all the food down in record time and is obviously feeling "much better now."

Halloweenies strike again!

Hello from the 'Weenies!

Not too much to say this time, just some pictures of the Pumpkins to put up. We had fun with a lot of trick or treaters last night, as well as taking some Pumpkin pictures. It was interesting when the Treaters were ringing the door and the Pumpkins were going "GUH!" on me, hence the code word, "ROTTEN PUMPKINS!" Next year, we may have a unique costume idea that involves some old-school appreciation for cartoons. Hopefully we can pull it off and actually get to go Trick or Treating. :-) (And yes, the third pic is one of them in a laundry basket. There was not too much room though.)

This is for you, Amy S.!

While searching for new footie sleepers for the growing Babies, I came across a cute little number with tons of Frogs on it. (Gotta love the "Once Upon a Child" store or else I would be in the poor house buying clothing for these two munchkins ! :-)

Anyways, here are some new pics of Joel and Aron, Alyssa and Aunt Marlene H., and just Alyssa, plain and small. :-)

Figured it out...

I finally remembered what Aron's picture reminded me of. With Alyssa looking like a long-lost relative of the Delouise family, Aron appears to be a relative of Ollie Williams from "Family Guy" or the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man from "Ghostbusters." At least he has not turned into a Stewie yet....

Amypest's Pumpkin Patch

HAPPY HALLOWEEN from the Halloweenies!

It is almost Halloween, and I found a couple of pumpkins out in my yard. They are big pumpkins, weighing 13 lbs 4 oz and 12 lbs 4 oz. I have not found any rotten spots on them yet so they should be nice and orange for a long time after Halloween. :-)

I also made a startling discovery last night. Alyssa and Aron have a long lost older brother that has been recently discovered. The resemblance is quite scary and we only discovered this sibling after this revealing photo was taken.

"Keep firing...."

"I said across his nose, not up it!!"

Normally I try to put up pictures of each twin or at least one of them together but this picture was so wrong, I had to put it up separately.

This is a picture of Aron acting out a scene from "Spaceballs: The Movie." At the time we took the picture, he was slightly cross-eyed. Hence the title, "Keep firing, a&*holes!"

Two Fools...

While the kids are at rest, the mommy will play.

Here are some more pictures of the Babies. I am slowly transitioning the images from the former Amy's Baby Pest website. It will take some time but it will all get here eventually.

The Spongebob image is pasted because it was the theme of the old page, which was the entire Two Fools idea. Plus it is cute as well.

The first image is the babies stealing my seat. Go figure, as if sleep and resources was not enough, they got to take my seat as well! :-)

The second image was when I had put Aron next to Alyssa in the crib and turned away to do something. When I turned back, he had struck a pose almost exactly like Alyssa. Weird, huh?

The last image is where they are on the activity mat (Thanks Bic!) and Aron is staring off to the right side with his tongue sticking out. Apparently, this is normal that he is discovering his tongue so he will often make weird faces with his mouth. Looks weird but so funny all at the same time. :-)

Once again, I am off and running. The bosses are calling my name... (well, not really calling my name, although Alyssa's "Guh" does sound like "Muh" at times...)
